The Grand Longere- Cycling Holidays!, france

Right in the heart of the country but just 2 minutes drive from the nearest village, the property enjoys a large garden with a level lawn and is 3 minutes walk from the beautiful river Ellez which some people take a paddle, swim or fish for trout.

The Grand Longere features a magnificent vaulted ceiling to the lounge with a galleried landing above. There is a large "farmhouse" style kitchen with a table that easily seats ten. The master bedroom (partly restricted headroom in places) has an en-suite toilet. Two further bedrooms and the lower lounge sleep a total of 8 adults in comfort. There is a bathroom (wc) and a shower room (wc) at either end of the house on the ground floor. Two wood-burning stoves heat the house and provide that all important cosy feel. The house is big enough to accomodate a large party or family but is not so huge that a couple would rattle around. The house can be booked together with the Petit Longere next door to accommodate a total of 14 adults.There is a DVD player and TV, the TV does not get a signal but there is a selection of DVD's.

The Locality

The nearest village, Plouye is 4 kilometers away and has bars and small shops. Huelgoat is 8 kilometers distant and is a very pretty little town set beside a lake and surrounded by fascinating boulder-strewn forests. Carhaix-Plouger is a larger town with some beautiful mediavel buildings, a full range of shops and amenities and a fantastic music festival www.vieillescharrues.asso.fr/festival in July which has featured some very big name bands like Deep Purple, The Kaiser Chiefs, Scissor Sisters, Franz Ferdinand and The Cure. www.karaezadrenaline.com adventure park in nearby Carhaix is ideal for teenagers and wannabee teenagers! Horseriding is available nearby also- http://goachet.odile.club.fr. Also used for tours by http://www.longwayroundbrittany.co.uk.The sea is about 45 minutes drive west or north or a little longer South with unspoilt beaches and pretty towns and villages in abundance in all directions. The area is close to the Monts de Aree National Park which is a wild and windswept moorland area. The whole region is great for indulging in all sorts of outdoor activites - mountain biking, hiking, parascending, sand yachting, canoeing and many others. Roscoff (5-6 hours from Plymouth with www.brittanyferries.com ) is one hours drive, quicker if it's quiet on the roads (which it often is!) and it's about the same distance to the airport at Brest. www.flybe.com flies from several UK airports to this ideally situated small airport including Exeter (45 minutes). Plouye Village

Plouye has small shops for those little essentials as well as three bars, including the Welshmans pub, Ty Ellez, which is a bit of a step back in time! The village has a beautiful church with a spire which can be seen from miles around. Plouye is a quick drive, a 30 minute walk or a 15 minute cycle.
